Speak Better. Think Better. Listen Better. Lead Better.
Toastmasters is an international organization designed to assist people to improve their communication and leadership skills. The first Toastmasters club was established on October 22, 1924, in Santa Ana, California, by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, who conceived and developed the idea of helping others to speak more effectively. More clubs were formed, and Toastmasters International was incorporated under California law on December 19, 1932.
At Toastmasters, members learn to speak and lead confidently in a supportive club environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 members. Each club meeting provides an opportunity to strengthen your ability to think on your feet, perfect your presentation and speaking skills, sharpen your listening skills, learn the art of giving and receiving feedback, and perfect and polish your leadership skills. Education is key - as a member you will progress at your own pace through a professional educational program which is broken into two components: Communication, and Leadership. Manuals, which provide a step-by-step approach to the art of speaking and leading confidently, are provided throughout your educational journey. You will not go it alone - you will be assigned an experienced Mentor to support you as you progress through the education program.
