Past District 45 Governor Weds in Las Vegas Wedding.

They do! On Aug 18th at 4:00 pm PT, Past District 45 Governor, Wendy Harding, married her longtime sweetheart, Karl Stewart, in an intimate ceremony at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel at the Paris Hotel.

The couple had quite a surprise for approximately 30 of their Toastmasters friends, who thought they were just going to Toastmaster’s International Conference; they attended a wedding as well.

District 45 played a hand in the wedding. Wayne Mercer, our current District 45 Governor was Wendy’s escort; and her Maid of Honor was our current District Treasurer, Heather Perkins. Karl’s Best Man was Joe Grondin, District 45 International Speech Winner.

Within 24 hours of saying “I do”, another dream came true for Wendy as she was named International Director for Region 9.

During Saturday’s Regional Caucus, at the International Conference, the happy couple was presented with a wedding cake from Past District 45 Governor, Sue Francesco.

“We were thrilled to share our special day with so many of our Toastmaster Family members.  They made it so special and will always be a huge part of our memories of our wedding day!"

District 45 Kicks off new year

Under the leadership of Wayne Mercer, District 45 has kicked off a new Toastmaster year. One of the first orders of business is to train the new slate of District Offficers.  The majority of District Officers attended District Leadership training July 23rd in Bangor, Maine,  Leaders not available for training, will be provided training before the end of August.  The District goal would be to have 100% of district offers trained by Aug 31.

2011-2012 Advisor of Marketing Region 9 Appointment

Wayne Mercer, District 45 Governor is pleased to announce that Joe Jarzombek, DTM, PID has been appointed Region Advisor of Marketing for Region 9 for the 2011-2012 year.  The Region Advisor Marketing position is a valuable asset to the growth of Toastmasters International and will provide District Officers on-going support, coaching and hands-on training in all areas of marketing including strengthening existing clubs and building new clubs.

The Region Advisors Marketing are a vital link between Districts, World Headquarter and the Board of Directors and require expert knowledge about marketing-related issues and trends within the regions they serve. The Advisors are appointed by the Toastmasters International Board of Directors.

Joe has been an active member of Toastmasters International since May 1981. He has served in various club and district-level positions in five different districts in three Regions. We are thrilled to have Joe as our 2011-2012 Advisor of Marketing for Region 9.
